     
Why did we want to build Family Web Sites?
Meet the Kids is a family run web site, run by Steve and Teresa Mytton. It was launched shortly after we
became parents for the first time in May 2006.
As many of you will know, the birth of your first child is an amazing
experience and starts a whirlwind of activity !!! The first few months are chaotic and we had an endless
stream of visitors and well-wishers. There were dirty nappies and plenty of sleepless nights!
Initially, we wanted to do something that would help us announce our new arrival, so we set about
launching a baby announcement service on the web. We then asked our friends what the greatest challenges
were in relation to keeping friends and family in the loop and most of them said remembering significant
milestones and experiences was a big challenge (most couldn't remember what happened last week, let alone
last month!). Further to this, they also said that taking time to email information to people in other
parts of the World was generally not happening and they couldn't find the time to share photos of their
kids with friends and family.
Clearly, there was a problem here and felt it could be fixed by
utilising the World Wide Web - most people now have access to a permanent broadband connection - so we
thought why not?
